Arbaye, also known as Alayurt, lies 34 kilometers northeast of Midyat and 7 kilometers west of Kfar-Boran within the Tur Abdin region. Approximately 30 Syriac-Aramean families inhabited the village prior to the events of 1915.
Kurdish forces led by Ali Musa of Dayvan slaughtered the Syriac-Aramean population, and only a few individuals managed to survive the massacre. The attackers also destroyed the parish church of Mor Sobo, a historic structure believed to date back to the eighth century.
