Hans Ferdinand Helmolt (July 8 , 1865 in Dresden; † March 19, 1929 in Berlin) was a German historian and political publicist. After graduating in 1884, he studied philology and history at the University of Leipzig and the University of Bonn . Following an interruption for military service (1890), he received his doctorate in Leipzig for his dissertation on the Italian campaign of the Holy Roman Emperor Rupert of the Palatinate .
